Paul Gascoigne Signed Photo - Gazza's World Cup Tears
|
|
This fantastic A2 print shows an emotional Paul Gascoigne after England's heartbreaking defeat to West Germany in the 1990 World Cup semi-finals. Gazza had been the star of Italia 90, orchestrating wins over Belgium and Cameroon, but then a mistimed tackle saw him pick up a yellow card that would have ruled him out of the final. Gazza finished the match in heroic fashion, but with Chris Waddle and Stuart Pearce's missed penalties putting England out of the tournament, he was overcome with emotion. Gazza's tears flowed; he might have missed out on a World Cup final, but he captured the hearts of a nation.
