The wine has a black centre with a dark red rim and its bouquet offers an enticing melange of classical Barossa Shiraz dark plums and chocolate. The palate is opulent and rich with great length of flavour. It is superbly structured: the depth of velvet fruit being reined in by firm tannins and the beautifully integrated oak.

Futures Shiraz is classic Barossa Shiraz. And in keeping with the tradition of Peter Lehmann's Barossa Shiraz, this is an eminently enjoyable wine when released from the cellars, but will faithfully reward long term cellar maturation. An excellent partner for braised lamb shanks, richly flavoured casseroles, and of course, perfect with a superlative matured cheddar.

The Barossa is an ideal region for late harvest style white wines given the quality of Semillon in the region and the warm weather conditions that continue well into late vintage. Chief Winemaker Andrew Wigan had the good fortune of winning a trip to visit France in 1982 at vintage time and enjoyed a rare opportunity of spending time in the vineyards at Chateau d’Yquem – unquestionably then, and still today, home to the greatest sweet white table wine in the world. Walking through the vineyards he could see the same deterioration in the grapes that he had seen in the fruit being received at our own winery back in the Barossa! What he had assumed to be common spoilage in extremely ripe Semillon in fact was Noble Rot - Botrytis Cinerea.

Tasting Note: The colour is dark cherry red. The nose has lashings of beautiful soft chocolate and dark plums. Having spent 6 years on yeast lees it has a persistent fine bead, and is superbly developed, showing richness, softness and a delicious yeast complexity.

A classic understated blend of the traditional Rhone varieties Shiraz, Mourvedre and Viognier results in a lovely voluptuous wine with cool climate characters of white pepper and red berry fruit. Iona's Syrah is produced in very small quantities at this stage (120 cases) and the cool climate results in wines that are Northern Rhone in style showing white pepper, savoury and red fruit notes. This wine has a wonderfully aromatic nose showing fine mineral notes, hints of herbs, leaves and a touch of gooseberry fruit. The palate is extremely well balanced with classic sauvignon characters of gooseberry and grapefruit and a long, fine, minerally finish. Very stylish and polished.

This is fantastic if drunk with fresh asparagus and seafood dishes but is also enjoyable by itself. The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed, the free run and pressings kept separate, racked clean and lees filtered and kept separate. Fermented cool at 14 Degrees C for 12 to 14 days, the wine was then racked soon after fermentation and only the best components used for the final blend with one filtration before bottling.

Light straw colour with a green hue, with honey, apricots and white flowers on the nose. The palate is rich and sweet with an underlying minerality and complexity from the botrytis, leading into a long finish. This tiny 2.33 hectare vineyard is situated at 420m above sea level overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the south. Late afternoon mist and dry warm days result in perfect development of botrytis. The grapes are hand harvested late in the season yielding a tiny 2 tonnes per hectare.

The Green Point Chardonnay is an elegant varietal style with complexity from barrel fermentation, lees stirring and ageing in French oak barriques. A pale straw yellow with green tints. Complex aromas of fresh peaches, grapefruit rind and cinnamon combine with spicy vanillin oak.

Stone fruit and citrus flavours develop on the palate and are enhanced by a creamy texture derived from 6 months of lees stirring. Subtle flint and savoury flavours extend the palate and provide a lingering, crisp finish. Cellaring potential is 5-8 years.
