The Institute of Cancer Research was established in 1909 to carry out research into the causes of cancer and to develop new strategies for its prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. In partnership with the Royal Marsden Hospital, we are the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe, employing over 2,300 scientists, clinicians and nurses with a proven track record of scientific excellence. Legacy income is essential to us; in 2001 almost 75% of our voluntary income came directly from gifts people had left in their Wills to The Institute.

It is vitally important that we enhance and protect this income so that we can continue our research work for the benefit of future generations.
